St Mary’s Catholic College is named in honour of Mary, the Mother of God, who serves as our Patron and our model of courage, faith and openness to God’s call. One of the defining aspects of our College identity is the example Mary gives us — the courage to say “yes.”

St Mary’s Catholic College, inspired by Mary, brings to life Mary’s courageous “yes” where we engage deeply in life and serve to make a difference in the world. A genuine and authentic community, we embrace the inherent dignity of each individual to welcome and honour diversity in a spirit of unity and inclusion living out our mission.
Importantly, we honour Mary’s courageous yes in our learning, prayers, art, and sculpture. Our path through life should be paved with Mary’s strength of character, following her example to make a difference in the world.

Faithful: Her faithfulness encourages us to trust in God’s plan for our lives.

Inspiring: She shows us what it means to live, serving as a beacon of hope and inspiration for all.

Empowering: Mary’s “yes” shows us how we can make a difference in the world when we align ourselves with God’s will.

Relatable: Mary experienced joy, sorrow, doubt, and hope. She’s someone we can relate to and turn to for guidance.

Courageous: Mary said “yes” even though it was challenging. Her courage can inspire us to face our own fears with faith.

Empathetic: She cared deeply for those in need and shows us the importance of reaching out to help and support others.

Despite being the Mother of God, Mary remained grounded. She teaches us the value of humility, reminding us to stay grateful for our blessings.

Feast of the Assumption

Each year in August, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Assumption, marking the moment when, according to our faith, Mary “having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.”

This is the most significant day in our College calendar, and we celebrate it together as a whole community. Families are warmly invited to join us for this special celebration.

A Day of Faith, Fun and Community

Our St Mary’s Day celebration begins with a whole-College Mass focused on Mary’s life, her deep faith and her courageous “yes” to God. After Mass, students change into their House shirts and participate in a full day of activities, games and celebrations organised by our dedicated staff.
