The Arts are a vibrant and valued part of life at St Mary’s Catholic College. Students are encouraged to explore their creativity, develop their skills and find their voice through Music, Visual Art, Drama, and Media Arts.

Our students showcase their talents across a wide range of events including presentation nights, musical productions, ensemble evenings, eisteddfods, and community performances. Many also contribute to the College’s liturgical life through music, drama and visual presentations at Masses, Feast Days and other celebrations.

Students further enrich their learning through workshops, performances and exhibitions delivered by touring and local artists. At St Mary’s, creativity thrives — the Arts are alive, exciting and open to every student.

St Mary’s Instrumental Music Program offers specialist tuition in strings, woodwind, brass, percussion and voice. Tuition is delivered at the College and across seven affiliated primary schools.

Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of ensembles, including:

  • College Choir
  • String Ensemble
  • Concert Band
  • Flute Ensemble
  • Vocal Ensemble

These ensembles perform regularly in community events, eisteddfods, music camps, and State Honours Ensemble Programs.

Beyond music, students can also take part in weekly rehearsals, workshops, eisteddfods, tours and community performances.

 

A limited number of instrumental and vocal music bursaries are available each year for students entering Year 7 who demonstrate strong aptitude and potential.

Bursaries are awarded through an audition process held in Term 4 of the year prior to entry.
